Services are available to patients through the Rehab and Wellness Department at Golden Valley Memorial Hospital and at the Golden Valley Medical–Warsaw facility.
The rehab staff will personally supervise your rehabilitation program. They will help you design activities appropriate to your condition and provide personal encouragement, education and motivation to help you meet your goals.
Cardiac rehabilitation is a supervised outpatient exercise program for individuals with cardiac disease. Physical activity is essential to recovering from heart attack or heart surgery and also benefits those who are at risk for heart disease. The cardiac rehabilitation staff will design your individualized exercise program and monitor your progress in a healthcare setting.
In addition to medically supervised exercise, the program provides information to help make the lifestyle changes necessary for living a full, healthy life, including:
- Risk factor identification and modification
- Stress management
- Heart-healthy nutrition

Pulmonary rehabilitation is a supervised outpatient exercise program for individuals with known chronic lung disease. The pulmonary rehabilitation staff will design your individualized program and monitor your progress in a healthcare setting.
The staff will help you condition yourself to achieve optimal capacity to carry out everyday activities. Goals include increasing your exercise tolerance and improvement of your symptoms. Many patients notice improvement in their quality of life, such as the ability to return to work and enjoyment of leisurely activities.
The staff will collaborate with your physician regarding your progress as you meet the challenges the program has to offer.

Three Program Phases to Cardiac Rehab
Phase I begins while the patient is still in the hospital.
Phase II begins after hospital discharge and continues for 3 sessions per week for 12 weeks.
Phase III maintenance exercise for graduates of Phase II and others who are at risk for heart disease.
