General visiting hours are between 10 a.m. to 8:30 p.m. You may have one guest stay with you overnight in the hospital. Each room is equipped with a recliner.
Birthing Center Visiting Hours
The Golden Valley Memorial Healthcare (GVMH) birthing center provides a safe and secure department for their patients. The doors to the department are monitored by camera and locked 24 hours a day. All visitors are required to utilize the telephone provided to gain access. During labor patients are allowed a maximum of two visitors at a time. Only the labor coach and one other designated support person are allowed during the delivery.
A maximum of two visitors is allowed in the Labor, Delivery, Recover, Postpartum (LDRP) room. No children under the age of 12 will be allowed in the room during labor. Unless ordered otherwise by your physician, you may visit children, family and friends in the birthing center waiting room.
Only the labor coach and one other designated support person is allowed.
Visiting hours are at the discretion of the patient, although all visitors will be asked to exit the department at 8:30 pm with the exception of one significant other. All visitors must be free of infection or illness. No more than four visitors and the significant other are allowed in the patient's room at a time. Unless ordered otherwise by your physician, you may visit family and friends in the birthing center waiting room. Your baby will not be allowed to leave the birthing center until discharged by the physician. Those allowed to handle the baby will be at the discretion of the mother. Please ask all visitors to wash their hands before holding or touching your infant. Siblings of any age may visit. During flu season, visitors may be restricted.
Your spouse, significant other, or support person (only one person) may stay with you overnight during your admission. You, as a patient, must utilize the birthing bed during the night to ensure your safety. The minimum dress code requirement is a T-shirt and shorts for overnight guests and they must provide their own personal care supplies. Shoes must be worn outside of the patient rooms at all times.
Room service will be available for visitors at a nominal charge of $5 per meal. (Exact change is required.)

The hospital cafeteria will also be available for breakfast from 7 to 10 a.m.; lunch; from 11 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.; and dinner; 4:30 to 6 p.m.
Vending machines are located on the ground floor of the hospital. If you are unable to get a snack, please ask a nurse.
