Clinton, MO. – (Dec. 12, 2024) – Each month, Golden Valley Memorial Healthcare (GVMH) shines the light on outstanding employees. Barbara (Barb) Houk, Patient Experience Coordinator since 2022, has been named the December Employee of the Month.
GVMH’s Patient Experience Coordinator focuses on contributing to a positive environment for each patient, visitor, provider and employee. Houk is a perfect fit for her position. Known throughout GVMH as a person who brings sunlight into every room she enters, her positivity is contagious.
“Houk always has a smile on her face,” says Joshua Montaigu, a Skilled Maintenance employee for the Engineering department, “Her uplifting attitude never fails to brighten my day! I am grateful to have her on the GVMH team.”
First and foremost, Houk is a patient advocate. Her strength is her ability to anticipate needs and demonstrate compassion and care for patients and their visitors. She also embodies the qualities of a great coach. Houk helps effect continuous quality improvement at GVMH by mentoring employees and actively identifying and resolving difficult situations.
As the Employee of the Month, Houk received a GVMH gift and her name will be engraved on a plaque to be permanently displayed on the main campus. She is also one of 12 finalists for the 2024-2025 Employee of the Year award.
