Golden Valley Memorial Healthcare Certified as a Level III Stroke Center

Clinton, MO. – (Jan. 16, 2025) – The Joint Commission has certified Golden Valley Memorial Healthcare (GVMH) as a Level III Stroke Center.

This Level III Stroke Center certification means GVMH can provide timely diagnosis and begin treatments when indicated. Then, if deemed necessary, the patient can be transported to a Primary Stroke Center via helicopter or ambulance for more advanced care. This allows local patients to quickly begin the treatments they need to minimize the detrimental effects of a stroke.

The American Stroke Association developed B.E. F.A.S.T., an easy-to-remember acronym that can help you spot a stroke in yourself or another person.

  • Balance – Loss of balance/dizziness
  • Eyes – Vision changes
  • Face – Facial drooping/severe headaches
  • Arms – Weakness/numbness
  • Speech – Trouble speaking/confusion
  • Time – Call 911

“Currently, only a small percentage of stroke patients in Missouri get help within the recommended amount of time,” said Craig Thompson, CEO at GVMH. “This certification demonstrates our ongoing commitment and dedication to be able to provide critical care for stroke victims in our communities.”
