Clinton, Mo. – (Apr. 19, 2019) – Golden Valley Memorial Healthcare (GVMH) is pleased to introduce Lisa Susunaga, RN, BSN, as its new diabetes nurse educator.
With more than 12 years’ experience in patient teaching, Susunaga has joined the diabetes team at GVMH. In this role she will provide diabetes education and training in individual settings, as well as teaching group classes for physician-referred patients. The Diabetes and Self-Management Education and Support program is a CMS approved diabetes service recognized by the American Diabetes Association.
Susunaga will see patients at Golden Valley Medical – Clinton, the Out-Patient Treatment Center in Clinton and the Golden Valley Medical clinics in Osceola, Warsaw and Windsor. She will also facilitate the monthly diabetes support groups in Clinton, Osceola and Warsaw. Please call her for dates, times and locations at 660.890.8524.
Susunaga received an associate degree from Longview Community College and a bachelor of science in nursing from Avila University. Prior to joining GVMH, she worked as a public health nurse III for the Section of Public Health Nursing at the State of Alaska. She also worked as a public health nurse for the Kansas City Missouri Public Health Department and as a progressive care unit staff nurse at the Kansas City VA Medical Center.
