Clinton, Mo. – (Oct. 14, 2021) – For the month of October, Golden Valley Memorial Healthcare (GVMH) is sponsoring a Breast Cancer Awareness fundraiser. Proceeds from the event will be contributed to the Golden Valley Memorial Healthcare Cancer Center Care Closet.
To participate in the fundraiser, visit the GVMH Bistro located in the Outpatient Treatment Center Lobby or any of the GVMH clinics in Clinton, Osceola, Warsaw or Windsor, where you can make a $5 donation for an In Honor or In Memory card for anyone you know affected by cancer and receive a free cookie. The cards will be displayed at the sites throughout the month.According to the American Cancer Society, to reduce your risk of breast cancer, you should try to maintain a healthy weight, be physically active and avoid or limit alcohol. Also, see your primary care provider for regular healthcare appointments and begin getting a mammogram at age 40.
“Unfortunately, you cannot prevent breast cancer, but early diagnosis is key,” said Olivia Cody, Assistant Director of Imaging Services at GVMH. “You should conduct monthly self-breast exams, get regular clinical breast exams and yearly mammograms.”
To schedule an appointment for a mammogram or with your provider, call 660.890.7300.
For patients with cancer, GVMH has a Cancer Center that provides high quality, cutting-edge and innovative oncology services.
