Clinton, MO. – (Oct. 11, 2024) – As reported through national media sources, U.S. hospitals are taking steps to conserve their supplies of intravenous (IV) fluids after Hurricane Helene hit Baxter International, a major manufacturing plant in North Carolina. The plant manufactures approximately 60%, or 1.5 million bags of IV solutions used every day in the U.S.
“During this time, we want our patients to know that we will not be limiting our services at Golden Valley Memorial Healthcare,” said Craig Thompson, CEO at GVMH. “To be mindful of the situation, we will implement moderate conservation practices as needed, but all of our patients will continue to receive our highest standard of care.”
Thompson also said, “We have a multidisciplinary team that meets twice weekly to evaluate our in-house supply and review the response to our active supply orders and replenishment. We are aware of our IV supply at all times.”
