Craig Thompson is a seasoned healthcare leader with 20 years of experience in the industry. As CEO of GVMH, Thompson has demonstrated a deep commitment to advancing healthcare services and improving community health.

Currently, he serves as the 2025 Chair of the Missouri Hospital Association Board of Trustees, reflecting his leadership and influence in the field. In recognition of his exceptional contributions, Thompson was honored with the 2024 Missouri Hospital Association’s Visionary Leadership Award.

Before stepping into his role as CEO, Thompson served as the Chief Operating Officer and Assistant Administrator/Chief Compliance Officer, garnering a wealth of expertise in hospital operations and compliance. He holds a Master’s degree in Healthcare Administration with a focus on Healthcare and Hospital Management from Central Michigan University and a Bachelor of Applied Science in Physical Therapy from the University of Missouri-Columbia.

Thompson’s accomplishments extend beyond his leadership at GVMH. He has been recognized with prestigious awards such as the American College of Healthcare Executives Senior-Level Healthcare Executive Regent’s Award, the J.C. Smith Great People Award and the Missouri Community Betterment Adult Leader Award. He is also a Fellow in the American College of Healthcare Executives.

Passionate about healthcare and his local community, Thompson actively serves on several boards, including the Clinton Airport Board, the Advisory Board for Compass Health and the University of Missouri School of Health Professions Alumni Board. His leadership also extends to public service as the past President of the Clinton School District Board of Education and the Greater Clinton Area Chamber of Commerce.

Thompson’s advocacy for healthcare policy is also notable. He serves as Vice Chairman of the MIZZOU Legislative Network Committee. At the national level, he is a member of the American Hospital Association's Region 6 Regional Policy Board, contributing to healthcare policy discussions and initiatives.
